Wikipedia’s desktop site is getting a revamp for the first time in 10 years

Zerologon: instantly become domain admin by subverting Netlogon cryptography;

Microsoft patched a very interesting vulnerability that would allow an attacker with a foothold on your internal network to essentially become Domain Admin with one click. All that is required is for a connection to the Domain Controller to be possible from the attacker’s viewpoint.

  • use strong passwords / passphrases and keep them safe
  • do not use the same passwords across multiple sites
  • use a password manager to keep stock of all your passwords and log-in details

Google security researchers are warning of a new set of zero-click vulnerabilities in the Linux Bluetooth software stack that can allow a nearby unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges on vulnerable devices.

Android 11 officially kills support for Google’s Daydream VR platform.

Over the last few years, Google’s Daydream VR has quietly receded from the spotlight, with the platform being quietly discontinued for new devices late last year.

Fixing skimming ATM devices

(Some names and details have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals.)

When Chami was going to use an ATM, she noticed some guys wearing XYZ bank t-shirts and were doing something near the ATM. One of them saw her and said,

“Sorry, we are from the Maintenance division and you may go ahead. Insert your card.”
“I’ll check if it’s working properly for you”

  • Pretending to be bank staff, asking customers to insert the card watching pin numbers that enable the skimmer to forge the cards and get money later.
  • Ask the person to present the bank ID. In case the person fails to provide the bank ID, call and verify from the bank if such maintenance is happening there.
  • Show nobody the pin you enter.
